When I first read the summary for Barbara Venkataraman's cozy mystery novel, Murder by Digeridoo, I wasn't expecting anything grand. I don't really enjoy "cozy" mysteries that much because they are often very short and focus more on the investigator's life drama than on the poor guy (and story line) who has been murdered.
However, this wasn't the case.
Jamie Quinn captures the reader's attention from the start as she recounts why, at least at first, she felt drawn to the case. "I don't know why I felt guilty, it's not like I killed the guy" (157).
As I continued to read I laughed at Jamie and her interactions with Duke--P.I. and major player--felt shocked and frustrated when her autistic cousin was charged with murder, and was relived when the true murderer was caught--I guessed wrong!
Plus, the ending of this book is really sweet. I "awed" the whole time I was reading it.
I give this book 3 stars and I would recommend especially if you want to skip the pretenses and just dive right into the case.
